Project: SAP HANA Implementation
Client: Oil and Gas Refinery and Retailer
Project Overview & Objectives:
Project team was formed to implement a single, shared instance of SAP S/4 HANA for the company and its subsidiaries, which were spread among various geographic locations. This was a new implementation of the SAP enterprise solution, to replace SAP ECC and Oracle Financials software applications. Goals of this project were to:
- Remove silos and lessen infrastructure complexity by having a single Book of Record for the entire organization
- Enhance scalability of the organization for anticipated growth through future acquisitions
The Clearsulting Delivery / Value
- Collected business requirements and technical specifications, including RICEFWs
- Implemented various SAP modules, including: Financial Accounting (e.g., FI-AA, FI-AP, FI-AR), Controlling, Sales & Distribution, and Materials Management
- Defined a standardized organizational structure, chart of accounts, and master data set (including mapping documentation from legacy systems)
- Implemented standard hierarchies for cost centers and profit centers to enable clear and simple FP&A tracking and reporting
- Performed integration testing and oversaw user acceptance testing to ensure business requirements were achieved
- Executed user training materials and in-person sessions to assist with transition
- Created a standard Finance process framework to be used across both the Refinery and Retail Finance groups
- Facilitated cross training sessions with users who were transitioning tasks, as well as technical SAP user trainings
- Realigned tasks within the Accounting organization to match the new Finance process framework and re-designed organizational structure. This included doing a deep dive of current tasks performed and identifying duplicative or waste activities leading to a 25% reduction in accounting tasks to be completed:
• 12% of tasks were found to be wasted activity
• 13% of tasks were found to be improperly aligned to the accounting function
