ClearFuture: How we’re embedding sustainability into everything we do
ClearFuture began as a conversation—an exchange of ideas between founder and CEO Marc Ursick and Senior Digital Analyst Spencer Hoge that sparked a vision for a more sustainable Clearsulting. Spencer’s personal and professional passion for sustainability quickly found alignment with our firm’s mission. From day one, accountability has been at the heart of ClearFuture. True sustainability means holding ourselves responsible—not just for business outcomes, but for how our work impacts the environment.
We launched ClearFuture with two goals in mind: make Clearsulting a more sustainable organization and empower our people with the knowledge to lead sustainable practices—at work and beyond. It’s a model that benefits us internally while positioning us to better support our clients. As sustainability becomes a greater focus globally, clients are increasingly asking about our own environmental commitments. That internal dedication doesn’t just reflect our core values—it gives us a competitive advantage. When we lead by example, we earn the credibility to help others do the same.
What accountability means to us
Accountability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a call to action. At Clearsulting, we take ownership of our environmental footprint. That means reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing waste, and constantly asking, “What more can we do?” Sustainability is a long-term effort, and we know the impact goes far beyond the present moment. We take pride in knowing the choices we make today can benefit generations to come.
To stay on course, we rely on our ESG expertise and technical capabilities to track and estimate our GHG emissions. Measuring our progress keeps us honest—and motivated.
A team effort
ClearFuture is a grassroots initiative, fueled by team engagement. Since 2022, we’ve hosted Earth Day events, shared resources for reducing at-home emissions, and created space for team-driven ideas. Workshops, open conversations, and ongoing communication help us build a community that’s not only informed but inspired.
When team members take the lead, ClearFuture becomes more than a program—it becomes part of our culture.
Lessons learned, and what’s ahead
So far, we’ve learned that sustainability isn’t simple—it’s evolving, nuanced, and deeply interconnected. It requires curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to rethink how we operate. We’ve also learned that collective action leads to bigger impact. ClearFuture showcases the power of teamwork by creating tools like the Emissions Calculator, which evaluates emissions from utility bills. The Emissions Calculator is designed to help users understand their carbon footprint based on their utility usage, providing a detailed analysis of emissions data. Additionally, ClearFuture engages in launching projects across the company.
Most importantly, we’ve reframed sustainability as a positive pursuit—not one of sacrifice, but of stewardship. It’s about caring for what we have and making sure it lasts.
How you can help
Next on the ClearFuture roadmap: publishing our first sustainability report and updating our emissions data. It’s complex work, but it’s also a powerful opportunity to grow. We’re encouraging our team to get trained, get involved, and bring their creativity to the table.
Clients, partners, and stakeholders—your collaboration makes this stronger. Whether through knowledge-sharing, joint initiatives, or simply asking thoughtful questions, you help push us forward.
Let’s keep building a future that reflects who we are—thoughtful, accountable, and committed to lasting impact.
